Paterno may be remembered differently by all.

Joe Paterno has passed away at the age of 85. Paterno's career ended more unusually that most would have expected. He was fired because of his knowledge in the Jerry Sandusky case. He was let go because of what he didn't do, not what he did. Since then, Paterno has been in and out of the hospital, fighting his battle with cancer. Today, however, the fight with cancer ended and Paterno was called up. Is it fair that we will all remember Paterno for his scandal, and not for his two national titles and 409 career wins? Of course not. No one knows that more than Paterno. I think that it is impossible not to remember the darkest hours of the Joe Paterno era, but I also cannot ignore all of the great things that Paterno did. He turned boys into men and Penn State into a power house football program. He made countless donations to the university. Nothing will make up for what he withheld from authorities nine years ago, but hopefully someday, Paterno will be recognized for the things he did to make the community a better place.
